Cotton Stripes

I was documented by a very talented photographer and cinematographer, Dibs Trofeo, as I was taking photos on a recent trip to Vigan. Thank God for him, I can have an outfit post.

So, in a matter of two weeks I switched from layers of bulky winter clothing to almost (laughable) small amounts of fabric. My friends were scared that the dress was going to fall off of me in the middle of a Black Friday religious procession.

  • Cotton dress: H&M (from the Maternity section, I believe). No, there’s no bun in the oven. It was just so comfortable.
  • Hat: Burberry
  • Bag: Furla
  • Sandals: Balenciaga (unseen)
  • Sunglasses: Persol

I left the East coast winter, flew back to the Middle East, unpacked my suitcases in the hallway, washed my winter clothes, packed my summer clothes and flew 15 hours to Southeast Asia (that would be the roundup of my life in the last week, to say the least).

It is SUMMER here. I cannot fathom this heat as I was just freezing my ass a few weeks ago. I made it in time and met friends in Manila as I was invited to visit the province of Vigan for the Holy Week. Phew.

I still have a few posts for New York, but I had to share the shots  that I have taken on this recent trip.

Background Literature:

The City of Vigan is the capital of the Province of Ilocos Sur. The old city was established in 1572  and is located on the western coast of the large island of Luzon in the Philippines, facing the South China Sea.
It is a World Heritage Site in that it is one of the few Hispanic towns left in the Philippines, and is well known for its cobblestone streets, and a unique architecture that fuses Philippine and Oriental building designs and construction, with colonial European architecture. (source: Wikipedia, just because I’m too lazy to write my own description)

A friend owns the mansion where most of these photos were taken. He is an avid antique collector and is obsessed with restoring old Spanish colonial homes.

The most interesting fact is: Scenes from the 1989 movie, “Born on the Fourth of July” was filmed in this house. The Tom Cruise love scene was taken in the bedroom next to the room I was staying in.

Shopping for Spring and Summer

I have been on a hunt for the perfect Spring/Summer canvas bag for a while now. I was already decided on getting the Garden Party at the Hermès store in Madison Avenue, but I changed my mind as soon as I saw this Cabag PM in Etoupe.

I fell in love with the double hunter calfskin leather handles and the understated silver hardware.

The shape of the bag and the taupe color will serve me from Spring to Summer to Fall for sure. I guess as I get older, I am simplifying my choices more and more.

One of my resolutions for this new year is to unload things that are unnecessary. In all the aspects of my life: friends, choices, time, closet, etc. To commence with my cleanse, I thought I’ll start off with editing the contents of my bag. And like most women, I tend to overstuff my wallet.

I got this beautiful canvas wallet from the La Ligne Steeple collection. The horse design is both so classic and unique. It’s half the size of the wallets I normally use, and hopefully will cut the crap I have in half. It will take discipline to downsize, but I’m up for the challenge.

I also fell in love with the horse print on this Twilly. Yes, I do love horses!

I’ll be staying in Southeast Asia for a month very soon and I’m so looking forward to the summer weather! Shorts and sandals with my new purchases, I can’t hardly wait!

Have a wonderful weekend and Happy Shopping! xx
