New make up basics: Burberry

L1090942-001

(Velvet foundation Trench in No. 203, Complete Eye Palette in Pale Nude No. 03 and Lip Definer in Bright Plum No. 04)

I am not a big fan of Burberry like most Asians. I don’t like the emblematic, monochromatic plaid. I’ve always thought it was too  English, too preppy and a bit sad. I do appreciate the classic Burberry trench, don’t get me wrong. But the plaid? Hell no.

So, I was very intrigued by all the buzz that the Burberry beauty line created last year. It must be good, I thought, since it’s been compared to Giorgio Armani Beauty and for me that has got to be the best make up out there. I’m a loyal fan, so I was skeptical of Burberry.

But, in December, after finding a store that carried the beauty brand, I succumbed ( as I am the perfect victim of  glossy advertising) to purchasing a few products.

Verdict: I was quite amazed. The packaging ( a subtle plaid etching on gun metal), is heavy and elegant. The quality is wonderful. All three products went beyond my expectations.

I treat my skin with gentler and ultra-moisturizing products during this time of the year.

I have been loving these skin-saving products for those extra long, warm showers in the winter, I indulge in.

  • Almond Shower Oil and Honey Gentle Body Wash from L’Occitane.
  • Jo Malone Vitamin E Treatment Scrub.
  • A’kin Sandalwood and Sweet Orange Body Scrub from Australia.

Stay warm and moisturized!

The Harmonie du Soir eyeshadow palette.

I adore the golden bronze and plum red shades! It’s quite unique and very festive, so fitting for an updated holiday look. The taupe and light pink shades are very easy colors to play with for simpler everyday makeup, so this palette can actually take you all the way to Spring. So when you think about it, it’s worth the splurge.

The packaging and the gorgeous quilted double C stamp. Love.

Rouge Allure Velvet lipstick in No. 39 La Somptueuse.

It’s exactly what is says it is. Velvety. This deep wine red shade is beautiful. It’s the sweeter, less vampy sister of L’impatiente ( which made me look like a corpse). But hey, more power to all those who can carry black red lipsticks, because I can’t!

Chanel Le Vernis in 637 Malice.

In my opinion, this is the star of this Holiday collection. I cannot get enough of this nail color!  It’s the most elegant burgundy hue with bits of shimmer. I do keep a small collection of Chanel polishes and I have to say, this has got to be the winner!  I’m seriously considering buying two more bottles!
